Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
