Intensive Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and encountered problems to water supplies, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the city endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were injured.

The attacks come after nights of air raids in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
