World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning contest where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball announced this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic game averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
